My friend Tree just moved in with his lady, Holiday, and as I addressed a Christmas card to the two of them together this year, I couldn't help but wonder what the mailman was going to think when he saw, "Holiday and Tree" on the envelope.

Have I told you guys how flipping amazing you are? Thanks to you good folks, this wonderful family is going to have a Christmas. If you've ever been in their situation - and I know lots of us have - I am sure you know just how epic it is that strangers and friends alike come together to lend you a hand.
If you would like to help them out, please go here. You can read about how awesome they are, as well as see details on how you can win free jewelry! So far, only 8 people have entered to win the free jewelry... so your odds are good if you forward those receipts! :)
Please link to this post and spread the word! Be sure to mention that donors can win shiny things!
I will have a donation total and winners to announce on Christmas day!

Hi everyone! Have you considered helping out this amazing family for the holidays?
If you donate to these good folks, I will offer you a chance to win something nifty! It doesn't matter if it is $5 or $50... what is important is awesome folks helping awesome folks, and every little bit adds up to give these wonderful people a happy, less stressful (and warm) holiday .:)
On Christmas day, I'll draw 3 names and let those donors choose an item of their choice from my store. Its my way of saying thanks for taking the time to show my friends a little love.
All funds are going straight to Jeff and Sandi, so to enter this drawing please forward a copy of your Paypal receipt to me at girlpirate@gmail.com. Feel free to edit out or remove any personal details you don't want to send a long, all I need to see is your name, e-mail address and that a payment was sent to their Paypal account.
I will write down the e-mail address and have Matt draw them on Christmas morning. If you are not interested in being entered, you can opt out by not forwarding the receipt. :)
Thanks everyone!
Edit: Yes, this includes folks who donated two days ago, too. Forward to be entered. :)

Click here for a chance to give an awesome family a warm and happy holiday this year! You know you wanna. :)
Here is some art I made for Swap-Bot stuff:
Handmade holiday ornament.

The receiver's profile said she liked "vintage brass" stuff. This made things super easy for me, since it was sort of jewelry related. I was worried I would have to send to someone who's profile said they only like hand sewn or felted ornaments. I want to learn those crafts, but haven't had time yet. :)
"Fisht ATC"

"Funky Hair-Do ATC"

Bead mix of a user's favorite colors I sent.

I love the way the purple and blue look together. I will be using that for jewelry stuff very soon! I love sending bead mixes and putting this sort of thing together. :)

I know there are many people down on their luck right now, and I'd like to take a minute to introduce you to a couple of them.
Jeff (
drjeff) and Sandi are the definition of "good people". I have known them for years - they are kind, caring, thoughtful and generous souls. They have 5 wonderful kids who are smart, thoughtful and just as giving as they are. Despite being down on their luck money-wise for the last couple of years, they are always first in line to help others.

During the last few holidays, they have done fundraisers to help a single mom for the holidays, help a friend fix his power wheelchair, raised money for a friend who was in an accident and raised $3,500 for breast cancer research. In the past, when I have been down on my luck, they have also helped me out. No matter how bad their luck is, they always find a way to give to others. They give without a second thought and do so much for everyone else, but never ask for anything for themselves.
So I am going to do it for them.
It is the holidays, and money is, as always, tight. The work they need isn't all there. The heating oil needs to be filled and the kid's holiday gifts have been returned to buy a little oil to get them by for now.
I am hoping that we can use the awesome powers of LJ-love and generosity to fill that heating tank, get some of those presents back under the tree and maybe get 'em a couple bags of groceries to keep them fed and happy through Christmas. :)
Who's in?
Any little bit will help!
This Paypal button is linked directly to Jeff's account, and all funds will go directly to he and Sandi.
Please spread the word! Re-post, link, anything will help.
Next year, they will be paying this forward, and I'll make sure to link it here as well. :)

People have been asking, so I thought I would just make a post with my address. :) If you'd like to send me a holiday card or anything else, you can mail it here:
Kirsti Hanna
PO Box 14402
Mill Creek, WA 98028
If you want to put Matt's name on it too, he'd love that. We think it'd be really cool to get a bunch of cards for our first Christmas in the new house.
Candy, cash and dead hookers are also welcome!

Today a man picked up his cake and then walked right out without paying.
We only know this, because once the guy got home and his wife informed him that the cake hadn't been prepaid for, as he believed (hence, walking out with it), he called us and paid for it over the phone. We would never have known it hadn't been paid for, since we don't collect the money in the bakery. He could have had that $40 cake for free.
But he called.
It is little things like that which restore my faith in people.
